My Realistic Weekly Workout Routine (Right Now)

I work a typical 9–5, 40-hour, on-site job. I have a toddler who needs to get to daycare so I can make it to work at a decent time—ideally between 8:00–8:15am. My husband is a fireman and works 24-hour shifts, which means there are many mornings that the entire shuffle falls on me.

This is why Night Brittany has to help Morning Brittany. But it’s also why my workouts have needed to shift lately.

I used to be a Barre3 Unlimited member, and for a while, I loved going to class 5–6 days a week. But in this season of life, that just isn’t realistic anymore. Thankfully, back in November, I discovered Solidcore and grabbed a membership during their Black Friday deal.

Since then, I’ve realized something surprising: I actually want to work out less—but with more intention.

So starting in March, I switched to an unlimited Solidcore membership. Which sounds like more… but it’s actually less. Less decision-making. Less mental load. Less trying to fit everything in.

My plan is simple: I work out on the mornings my husband works.

It might look like:

  • Monday – Solidcore before Paul leaves for work

  • Wednesday – Solidcore before Paul leaves for work

  • Friday – Solidcore before Paul leaves for work

  • Sunday – Solidcore in the morning (Paul is home)

Then I’ll add one day of Peloton—either in the morning or afternoon—on a day Paul is coming home from work. If it’s in the afternoon, I’ll work out while he grabs Walter from daycare.

This gives me a few extra mornings to sleep in, while still getting strong, challenging workouts in.

Because Paul’s schedule rotates, the exact days change. One week it might be:

  • Wednesday – Solidcore

  • Friday – Solidcore

  • Sunday – Solidcore

  • Monday – Solidcore

Another week might be:

  • Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

But the pattern stays the same: Solidcore on his workdays.

And then I’ll sprinkle in one or two short at-home workouts when it makes sense. Maybe a 20-minute walk one day. Maybe 20–30 minutes of something hard on the Peloton another day while Paul handles pickup.

Nothing fancy. Just realistic.

When I had two memberships, I spent so much time trying to figure out where to go and when to go. It was exhausting before the workout even started.

Now, it’s simple.

Less thinking. Less planning. Less pressure.

And honestly, moms already carry enough mental load.

Now I can plug my workouts into my calendar as recurring placeholders, and when the schedule opens each month, I book them. Bonus: that 5:15am class usually isn’t too hard to get into.

I’ve thought about grabbing a class pack at Barre3 occasionally, and I might. I do love Barre3. But right now, I’m really enjoying the high-intensity, low-impact challenge of Solidcore—and the simplicity of sticking to one thing.

The long and short of it?

Find something that works for you.

Not your friend.
Not your neighbor.
Not your spouse.

You.

Because that’s what you’ll stick with.

And also—remember—it’s okay if that thing changes.

Seasons change.

And we’re allowed to change with them.
